Scientific Calculator: Functions You Should Know

July 18, 2026 · 3 min read · Toolszy Team

A scientific calculator does far more than add and subtract. Here are the functions students and professionals use most.

Key functions

  • Trigonometry — sin, cos, tan (usually in radians online).
  • Logarithms — log (base 10) and ln (natural log).
  • Powers & roots — x^y and √.
  • Constants — π and e.

A tip on radians vs degrees

Many online calculators use radians for trig by default. If you expect degrees, convert first (degrees × π ÷ 180).
